nursing nightgowns day 19 how i got the tag nursey nicole bikini singers

nursing nightgowns sorry i switched 365 pics mixed up with all the rejects... this is me holding a picture of my mom when she graduated from nursing school in 1962. she made 50 cents an hour. she was a bedside nurse for forty something years. she was around when they invented CPR. you may think i am joking, but i am not. she retired about three years ago, and trust me, the profession suffers some today from the loss of nurses like her. when i was kid, i was shy and read lots of books. i took ballet lessons, i acted in plays, and i tried to make fun of myself in order to feel better and fit in. when i was 16, and getting my confirmation, i volunteered in the hospital emergency room. that was it. i was hooked. i have been a nurse for ten years. i ordered the cap from ebay because most nurses don\'t wear caps anymore. i am suddenly fascinated by all things retro nursing. 3 years ago i had a really bad back injury which prevents me from doing real bedside care, although i still get time in the emergency room. i miss taking care of the patients like i used to. i loved touching their lives. i look at this picture of my mom, and it reminds me of how young and scared i was when i first started. the loss of my \"bedside\" work has been almost like a death to me. i am lucky i still work in the hospital and i still get to meet patients and touch their lives a little differently. someday, i hope to be able to heal with my hands again. i have been privileged enough to be with people at their first breath of life, and sometimes, the last person there at their death. i have the privilege of being with people when they are sick, and hopefully, in some small way, making it more bearable. i tried to get another tag on flickr, but they were all taken...nursey nicole was not...
